While the houses are built from local materials, most everything else has been purchased in the usa, imported to Mexico and shipped or carted down the Baja peninsula. We have tried to think of every amenity we and our guests might want and have provided them all.
Betsy, who is a retired whitewater river outfitter, used her years of taking guests into the wilderness to equip our homes with all the best toys. To off-set the expense of building and outfitting our little piece of paradise, we decided to offer EL NIDO, VILLA DEL MAR and CASA DEL MAR for luxury guest vacation rentals. Building VILLA DEL MAR and CASA DEL MAR in 19 and EL NIDO in 2000 are the realization of our years-long dream of having real homes at the beach in Baja California Sur, Mexico. EL NIDO, VILLA DEL MAR and CASA DEL MAR are the culmination of our many years of visiting Baja, first by car camping and tenting, then by truck camper and small rv, camping by private aircraft and sleeping under the wing of the airplane, then to the old-style palapa beach “house” that used to be the way it was in cabo pulmo, and finally to a large fifth-wheel rv after our palapa house burned down in 1991. Our motto is, “if we don’t provide it, then you don’t really need it!” we have been baja converts since the late-60’s. Betsy lives in Hailey, Idaho near the ski resort of Sun Valley, Idaho. Betsy is a certified ski instructor, 1968 USA 8th Interski Team member, formerly worked in the ski and outfitting industries, and has been an active Realtor in Sun Valley, Idaho since 1980.
She oversees general day-to-day operations, working closely with Maria Elena, our on-site manager and housekeeper. When you call or email our Reservations Office, Betsy will be your main contact person. Betsy manages Baja Paradise's overall operations for the Baja Paradise owners, Lance McCulloch and Ray Lawson.
Betsy has put her years of experience as one of Idaho’s premier whitewater river outfitters to provide Baja Paradise guests with a turn-key vacation experience. Betsy Barrymore Stoll, manager of BAJA PARADISE, is one of Cabo Pulmo’s original American locals, discovering the area by airplane in 1970 with first husband, Dick Barrymore, developer of Cabo Pulmo Beach Resort.
